Represented by TOBE Gallery since 2018
  • Gustavo Blanco-Uribe was born Venezuelan and turned into a versatile artist that has developed a multidisciplinary career in decoration, fashion and fine arts. After years of studies in fine arts, illustration and decorative arts, in Altos de Chavón School of Design and then at Parsons, started his career in New York painting for decoration projects and window display for high-end brands, as a designer for great scale benefit events and opened a Studio in DUMBO (Brooklyn, NY). Currently lives in Madrid, where he opened a Studio and is solely dedicated to fine arts.

“An impulse to record the world is thus only part of what fuels my art activity. My work is the only window that exposes my own environment, taking the spectator to a world enveloped in equilibrium and harmony. The detailing is crucial, to discerning sartorial scrutiny. I look for shadows and light that make geometric and structural shapes. Parallel spaces, contrast, abstraction, lines and superimposing, are essentials characteristics of my work. These characteristics come together in a process that is all but spontaneous. The colour co-stars in my work, without it there is nothing. While it combines and accompanies the photography, it fights for its placement in the surrounding space. Colour, its gradient and hues aids in being a highly vibrant composition.I like the spectator to encounter a very active single work created to highlight the different dimensions and move the viewer into its own space, using photography as a means of social expression, and the chromatic spectrum, a good marriage to build a new formal dialogue.”
