Alejandro Vega Beuvrin is a Venezuelan sculptor whose practice bridges architecture, political memory, and abstraction. After earning his architecture degree from the Central University of Venezuela in 2004, he taught design and fine arts at Simón Bolívar University until 2014. That same year, amid political unrest in Caracas, he relocated to Barcelona, Spain, where he established his sculpture studio and continues to live and work.
Vega Beuvrin’s work is rooted in architectural logic, often beginning with digital drawings that are laser-cut into metal sheets and assembled into dynamic, three-dimensional forms. His acclaimed Barricada series—monumental metal sculptures—originated from a 2015 commission in Caracas and reflects on urban resistance and the physicality of protest.
His sculptures have been exhibited internationally, including at the Jing’an International Sculpture Project in Shanghai and at the Jardin du Palais-Royal in Paris during the Carré Latin event. His work is also part of important collections such as the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Caracas. In 2019, his work featured in TOBE Project’s PAPAYA exhibition in the north of Lake Balaton, highlighting his connection to the Ibero-American art scene.
Vega Beuvrin’s minimalist yet expressive sculptures offer a contemplative dialogue between material form, space, and sociopolitical context.
