Contemporary photography is on the same level as any other artistic discipline; this is why, in our project for SAF 2025, we have incorporated several artists who help make this statement visible.
Six + 1 artists make up this selection, offering a journey between concrete photography and concrete painting, alongside a spatial presence through the work of Venezuelan artist Alejandro Vega Beuvrin. From the abstraction of Copacabana’s Promenade by photographer Bruno Veiga, through the plastic interventions of Anna Fabricius and Cristina Kahlo, to the diverse layers and uses of material by Valéria Sóváradi and Gustavo Blanco-Uribe, the selection culminates with the representation of infinity through a single color by András Gál. This selection opens a window to understanding how different artistic techniques can coexist and how a common thread can connect them.
We have paid special attention to the international nature of the selected artists and their achievements. The artistic heritage in Cristina Kahlo’s work is notable—thanks to her father, Antonio Kahlo, she discovered her love for photography. And let’s not forget her great-aunt, Frida Kahlo, whom she never met in life but from whom she later learned a great deal, especially in understanding the world around her and her relationship with it. András Gál and Alejandro Vega Beuvrin’s work has been recognized in many parts of Europe and the world, and is part of significant collections.
