Exhibited artists: Kincső Bede (HU-RO), Juan Brenner (GT), Oleñka Carrasco (VE)
TOBE Gallery’s fifth presence at Paris Photo Fair
November 7 – 10, 2024 – preview opening November 6
Grand Palais, Paris
Booth #D17 at the main sector
Kincső Bede, Juan Brenner, and Oleñka Carrasco offer profound insights into intergenerational relationships and cultural legacies, emphasizing their respective territories. Kincső faces challenges in reconciling diverse historical narratives, particularly in Eastern European societies shaped by the legacy of socialism. Juan’s photography delves into territory, notably the Western Highlands of Guatemala, capturing fluid identity and enduring power dynamics, demonstrating cultural hybridization. Oleñka experiments with photography to create an immersive experience exploring sensory connections to her homeland, Venezuela. Since her exile, the landscape mutates, narrating its destruction. These three artists prompt viewers to confront social tensions and inequalities, exploring human complexities. Their diverse perspectives serve as catalysts for introspection, urging reflection on our shared humanity and its historical echoes, inviting empathy and understanding when navigating social complexities.
