Kai Art Center, Tallinn

TOBE Gallery is proposing a presentation centered on the work of Kincső Bede, highlighting her sensitive exploration of identity, memory, and generational continuity. The booth will feature a minimalist scenography and a carefully curated selection from the series Three Colours I Know in This World, accompanied by selected works from The Art of Pista series, as well as a self-portrait that captures the essence of the artist’s practice.
Bede’s work bridges personal and collective histories, addressing the subtle tensions and emotional distances between generations. Through symbolic objects, carefully staged images, and intimate narratives, she reflects on inherited identities and the evolving role of tradition in contemporary life, making her practice particularly relevant in the context of today’s cultural and familial transformations.
Three Colours I Know in This World is an intimate black-and-white photographic series exploring inherited identity, femininity, and cultural memory. Through staged scenes and symbolic gestures, Bede reflects on the emotional ties between generations, revealing how personal history and tradition shape self-perception within a changing contemporary landscape.
The Art of Pista draws primarily on the artist’s personal experiences—particularly the complex, conflict-ridden relationship between her grandparents—while also opening broader reflections on the possibilities, limitations, and responsibilities of photography.

* TOBE Gallery is presented at Foto Tallinn in partnership with the Liszt Institute – Hungarian Cultural Centre Tallinn.
