Cidades dispersas

by Bruno Veiga
September 11 - October 19, 2019

The idea behind this work is to reflect upon the phenomenon of intense contemporary industrial expansion outside large urban centers and to consider how small and medium cities are affected.  It is a global phenomenon that has been attracting the attention of researchers all over the world because of its significant consequences, and the category of SCATTERED CITIES was created to define it. In this homonymous essay, we aim at approaching the subject by means of photography. It finds clear expression in the recent and radical industrial expansion in the south of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
