Diki Luckerson

1994, Esztergom, Hungary
Lives and works in New York
Represented by TOBE Project since 2024
  • Diki Luckerson’s academic pursuits led her through various disciplines, including media design, scenography, and film directing at institutions such as The Moholy-Nagy University of Applied Arts, the Accademia di Belle Arti in Sicily, and The University of Theater and Film Arts in Budapest. Her approach to filmmaking evolved towards prioritizing experiences and moods over traditional storytelling or messaging, drawing her into the realms of philosophy, particularly phenomenology, which she studied under James Dodd and Simon Critchley at The New School in New York City.

In recent years, her focus has shifted towards painting and the philosophy surrounding it. She keeps a painting journal to document her creative experiences. She rejects the notion of separating the personal, social, and political in artistic expression, viewing them as inherently intertwined. Rather than crafting work around predetermined messages, she is drawn to stripping meaning down to its essence and embracing the ambiguity and mystery of symbols.
She believes that art serves as a mediator between the visible and invisible realms, communicating indirectly through symbolism.
